Taste and see that the Lord is good!
Wow!
God can write the most intricate, lovely and beautiful novel in eight verses! Today as we read the first eight verses of Psalm 34, listen to the beautiful story that God is speaking into your life. These verses are packed with assurance from our Father in Heaven as he tells us that we should:-
- Bless Him
- Praise Him
- Boast in Him
- Magnify Him
- Exalt His Name
- Cry out to Him
- Seek Him
- Fear Him
- Trust in Him
We must remember that these are not simply words that we speak to the Lord. Blessing the Lord and praising the Lord are actions. We must live the life that Jesus showed us and taught us. As we live humbly, resisting pride, as we choose not to argue with our family members or our neighbors, we do so in an act of praise and blessing to God. We ask the Holy Spirit to encourage us and empower us to keep quiet when we want to answer back or argue. This humility is a simple act of praise where we are completely reliant on the Holy Spirit.
As we do these things, as we live out the life of Jesus, by the power of the Holy Spirit we are assured in these eight wonderful verses that God:-
- Hears us
- Delivers us from our fears
- Saves us from all of our troubles
- Protects us (The angel of the Lord encamps around us)
- Makes us to shine
- Takes away the shame
- Blesses us
And the Lord reminds us and assures us that this is a living relationship, we are encouraged to ‘Taste and see that the Lord is good’.
The Big Question
Do you believe these words?
When you read what the Lord is telling us, do you beleive the words despite what it may look like at the moment? Do you know in your heart that God is doing this for you? As you praise Him and bless Him and exalt Him and fear Him – He will bless you, protect you, save you and deliver you.
May the Holy Spirit speak to your heart and whisper into your life that these things are true. Believe!
Today, look at your life, see what the Lord has done, what He is doing and taste and see that the Lord is good!
Bless you today in Jesus name.
I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
